EPIC pain today from my Hidradenitis Suppurativa!

Wow rough day woke up with a new flair up right on the front of my waist line it is huge! This is going to be a day of doing nothing. Just took 4 advil, for some reason my new Dr. will not give me pain meds he does not understand this disease. On a good note I just moved into a house that has a salt water pool. Salt water pools are supposed to help, I will keep you updated. And again I thank everyone for sharing stories and reading mine it truly means alot to me.

Is that a picture of the actual pool? It looks nice…. I didn’t know about the saltwater thing.. good to know. Do you use warm or hot compresses? I find it helps my flair ups from the painful stage where it hurts right before it ruptures. I hated it- it hurt like hell. Now, as soon as I start to feel a bump, I’ll put hot compresses on and push down firmly and it seems to make it less irritated and not get so big. Sometimes I swear it just went away… at least it felt like it did. I use pretty hot water and a wash cloth.

I’ve had a small repeat flair up under the arm and recently I got one on my inner thigh near my pelvic area. Sucks, but I think the worst is over for now. I’ve never experienced one on my breasts like I’ve read about others…. I hope I never do- I would die.

I wonder if covering the area is better or worse? Sometimes I think airing it out helps to let it take its course.

I wish someone would find a cure or even sustainable treatment. This is far too depressing and debilitating to have to endure all your life.

Hello Stacey. How are you? Yes this is the actual pool. I love it.
Today is a very bad day for me I took 16 Advil today. And it barely helps.

You need more than advil… make your doctor prescribe something better! Or change doctors.

Just wanted to share this video I found on you tube… really hits home…

I wanted to ask you if you have any kids? I decided long ago I didn’t want kids for the main reason I didn’t want them to possible inherit this ailment.

      6. hshelp Avatar

Hey how are you. No I never have kids and have never been married.

Carlo, I think the video I just shared is awesome. Would you mind putting it on the front page on one of your blogs for all to see?

    Hello Carlo,
I just found your blog. I will be reading more, but your words really hit home for me. I am 19, and I have Stage III. I am completely disabled as I spend 22-23 hours of my day in bed due to pain. I also had problems getting pain medication. I finally convinced my Primary Care Physician that I needed something. She gave me Tramadol, and that helped for a while. My HS just got continually worse. After a visit to The Mayo Clinic, I was sent home with Percocet. LIFE SAVER! If you have had HS this long, and your Doctor won’t give you anything for pain.. I think I’d find another doctor. Taking that much Advil is not safe! Thank you for blogging. Feel free to ask me any questions. -Ashly

Hello thank you so much for your comment. I did try tamadol no luck, but yes I had perkaset in the hospital an wow no pain at all. I am working on finding a new dr now. with my insurance I am limited but I have to do something. Last 3 weeks I have been in so much pain I cant stand it.

I understand how that is.. Yeah, Tramadol didn’t do much for me.. It worked when I was still able to function normally. I just used it when I had a flare.. Which, at this point I never quit have a flare! It is constant. Is yours constant? I haven’t been without open wounds since November of 2012. I understand the insurance issue.. I was referred to a burn care specialists who knew more about HS.. But he wasn’t on my insurance. I was given Percocet 5mg. It has been wonderful. I have noticed myself needing to take a few more because I am getting immune to it. But it allows me to have a little comfort.. Have you had any of the surgeries to remove the area? Which Doctor did you see at Mayo in Arizona? That is where I went in January! It is so nice to have another person to talk to about this.. Nobody can truly understand unless they suffer from it too.

Not anymore. I live in San Diego now. I was born in Havasu, grew up in San Diego, went to nursing school in Yuma and now I’m back here for nursing.

      4. hshelp Avatar

Oh nice. San Diego is amazing! I love it there.

I do too, except it’s too much city for me. I love the country. How are you feeling? I hope you had a nice weekend.

      6. hshelp Avatar

I did have a great weekend in some pain tonight but it’s tolerable. How are you feeling? I am from Chicago I kinda miss the city. But I love az weather.

Good I’m glad! I’m doing fine, considering the pain I could be in. Honestly, I feel better just because I’m on here. I’ve always wanted to be open about HS, but the people I talked to never seemed to have it as bad as I do. I just got back from Chicago in June. My dad was born and raised there, so we go back often.

I am so glad you found my blog and that you feel comfortable opening up. That’s cool about your dad I go back often as well it’s a great city. So you work in nursing?

I’m really grateful for finding your blog. Thank you for opening up and sharing your story. I know for me it means a lot to know I have a place to not only talk about this, but have someone know what I am talking about and I’m sure a lot of others feel the same.
Yes, I’m a Registered Nurse for the trauma unit in the emergency department. I absolutely love it.
        What do you do?

Hello how are you today? For a long time I was a music agent represented some pretty good bands. Right now I am on Disability it is truly hard for me to go a full week without bad pain so I would miss to much work. And man I do go nuts not working but right now I have no choice.
